HOW OUR AUCTION WORKS
Our site uses auction software which allows sellers to list their products, and buyers to place bids. If a buyer wins a bid, they must pay the seller directly. EcoProduce provides the marketplace and charges the seller a small fee for successful bids.
Anyone can buy on our site, however in order to sell online, the member must let us know after registering that they intend to sell organic and eco-friendly products. We will then manually enable their account to sell. We check all new listings, and will suspend any account that is not being used for this purpose.
When a SELLER lists a product they must state whether it has organic certification and if so the name of the certification agency. These details are displayed on the auction details pages. Having certification gives the buyer more confidence in the origin of the products, however it is is not not a requirement for products to be certified.
The seller can choose to sell using a standard auction or a dutch auction and there is an option to list products with a reserve price. A seller can also choose to use the "buy now" feature which allows them to use the site as a "shop window".
After selecting a category for their product, a seller must enter the currency they are using, their location, and the auction duration - from 1 day to 1 year. They can also upload images. The seller must state whether the buyer or seller pays for shipping and enter the details of how the product will be shipped and how it must be paid for.
If you are a BUYER, when you place a bid for a listing, if successful you will receive a confirmation message. If the bid fails to outbid the current high bidder you will be offered the option to place a higher bid. Proxy bidding can aid your chances of winning an auction.
If an auction has a "buy now" feature, then on a standard auction that auction will end instantly as the item has been sold via "Buy Out". On a Dutch auction, you can enter the amount of items you wish to buy (depending the quantity available).
There is also a FEEDBACK mechanism which allows both the seller and the buyer to leave feedbacks for each other. The feedback rating is from one star to five stars, and a feedback comment can also be left. Over time this will give both buyers and sellers and indication of trust. We reserve its right to delete malicious or untrue feedbacks.
